Stephanie Hitchings

Penguins Teacher

Stephanie has been lucky enough to have moved around a bit over the years and has seen and experienced much of the beautiful country that we call home. She enjoys travel but rarely gets time for it now that her family has grown over the recent years. She loves spending time with her family getting out in nature, such as hiking, going to the beach or walking to the creek. She was lucky enough to work at a lovely school in WA that is similar to BiS and feels like she has found her niche since joining the team.

Stephanie enjoys watching and helping children to grow and learn. She has a special interest in children with additional needs and loves how rewarding working with these children can be as they overcome any challenges they might have. Stephanie also has a passion for nature and child-led learning, teaching the children to understand themselves and their place in the world. Stephanie has a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education with a Master of Education in learning difficulties. She also has graduate certificates in literacy, children’s literacy and TESOL.

Stephanie values classroom experiences where “the students and I share the learning. The students help to guide me to what projects we should do or what we should learn about next and I support them to learn how to learn so they can immerse themselves in the aspects of the learning they love best.”
